SADE EASTMOND
I am a dedicated Social Scientist with deep roots in New York City. Growing up here instilled in me a strong commitment to highlighting, understanding and addressing the complex social, economic and health challenges faced by urban communities.
I am currently enrolled in the Master of Arts program at the College of Staten Island, City University of New York, specializing in Political and Social Science with a concentration in Anthropology through the Department of Liberal Studies.
My academic background includes a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy and Psychology, with a minor in Political Science, and a research focus in cognitive behavioral neuroscience. This interdisciplinary foundation deepened my understanding of how thought, emotion, and behavior intersect, not only within individuals, but also across broader social and structural contexts. Which shaped my approach to analyzing human experience, social systems, and pathways to community well-being.
After many years of studying and exploring the neural mechanisms of thought and behavior, my interests gradually evolved toward understanding how these individual processes are shaped by broader social, cultural, and structural forces. This progression led me to the social sciences, where I could more fully examine the systemic conditions that influence community health, equity, and overall well-being. Focusing specifically on New York City, my current research and work engage with the unique social determinants and health challenges faced by its diverse urban communities, particularly in relation to community health.
In addition to my academic pursuits, I am certified in Community Health Worker Training in Clinical Research through NYU Langone Health and have completed advanced training in research ethics and compliance through the Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative. I am also certified by the American Red Cross in Basic Life Support (BLS) and First Aid/CPR/AED, prepared to respond effectively in emergency health situations.
As an active member of the National Association of Community Health Workers (NACHW), I am committed to continuous professional development and advocacy aimed at improving health outcomes and equity in underserved communities.
Combining rigorous academic training with practical experience and professional certifications, I am equipped to contribute meaningfully to community health initiatives, workforce development, and clinical research projects.
